- Do you offer conservation framing? Yes. Conservation framing uses acid-free archival materials, conservation mount board and UV-filtering glazing. It is the standard recommendation for any valuable or sentimental work.
- What is the difference between conservation and museum-grade framing? Conservation framing protects against acid migration, moisture and UV using archival materials. Museum-grade is the higher tier, with full archival materials throughout, a sealed back and museum-grade glazing. Museum-grade is used for works of significant value or extreme longevity requirements.
- What sizes can you frame? Standard sizes through to 4.5m × 3.5m, the largest frame completed in the workshop. Oversized work is engineered for strength, with welded aluminium or reinforced timber construction and bespoke hanging solutions.

## Workshop and process

The workshop occupies 5,000 sq ft at Adelphi Mill, Bollington. Production is organised into specialised departments rather than a single bench:

- Woodwork: profile selection, mitring, joinery, hand and machine finishing.
- Metalwork: welded aluminium frame fabrication for oversized and industrial work.
- Acrylics: cutting, polishing and assembling Perspex display boxes with diamond-polished edges.
- Artwork preparation: surface assessment, conservation mounting, lacing and hinging of textiles, mount cutting on a Gunnar precision mount cutter.
- Fit-up: glazing, sealing, backing, hanging system installation and quality check.

Materials commonly used include solid oak, walnut, ash, hand-finished mouldings, conservation-grade mount board, Tru Vue glazing and museum-grade glass, acid-free archival tissue and tape, and conservation-quality backing boards.
